The talk of the NFL is the trade of Brandon Marshall. The superstar wide receiver, known as much for his arrest record as his pass catching talent, has been traded by the Denver Broncos to the Miami Dolphins. In the Brandon Marshall trade, the Dolphins gave Denver a second-round pick in next week’s NFL draft, plus one more second-round pick next year, according to the NFL.

Brandon Marshall was in police reports during his junior year in college at the University of Central Florida with misdemeanor charges with disorderly conduct, refusal to obey, assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest. The charges all were dismissed. He was then charged again with retail theft after trying to return stolen bed sheets. Those charges were also dropped.

The Denver Broncos drafted Brandon Marshall in 2006. Brandon Marshall attracted the police again in January 2007 following a fight with his father, who asked to borrow money, in the parking lot of a bowling alley in Orlando, FL. Another police report was filed in March 2007 after his girlfriend Rasheedah Watley said Marshall threatened her with a lead pipe. Marshall was arrested just a couple of days later on charges of false imprisonment and domestic violence for assaulting Watley at the Marshall home in Denver. After Marshall attended anger management classes, charges were dismissed.

Brandon Marshall assaulted Watley again, according to police reports, in June 2007 when he allegedly cut her with a kitchen knife and punched her in the face. Marshall then went and rammed Watley’s friend’s vehicle with his nice car, being a Cadillac Escalade. No charges were filed, again. Just a little while later, the Atlanta police responded after Marshall missed a flight, Blamed Watley for it, and beat her up. No charges were filed again. The Atlanta police told Watley to get a restraining order.

Drinking and driving with Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall got a DUI in Denver in October 2007. After several more reports of violence with Watley on the receiving end of the receiver’s wrath, Marshall was suspended for the first three regular season games of 2008. two misdemeanor counts of simple batter for incidents from March 2007 are what Marshall was finally charged with. He was sentenced to a year probation for his DUI in September 2008.

Fiance being assaulted by Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall proposed to Michi Nogami-Campbell in February of 2009, making many sports writers praise Marshall’s “maturity.” Marshall was arrested for assaulting his fiance in public in Atlanta just a couple of months later. The charges were later dismissed. The Broncos kept Marshall suspended during many games last season and benched him for the final game.

Marshall set an NFL record for receptions in a game with 21 in 2009 and caught more than 100 passes for the third straight year.
