Big Butter Jesus fire started by lightning

Taller than the church within the area, the Touchdown Jesus statue was over 60 feet tall. When a large thunderstorm brewed in the area, lightning hit the statue. The “Big Butter Jesus” sculpture was built by a sculptor known for his work with Disney and Caesar’s Palace. Only six years old, the sculpture was already slated for restoration. This fire does, nevertheless, give Solid Rock Church the chance to re-submit a new sculpture for the Guinness Book of World Records category of “World’s Largest Christ”.
